If there is anything I have learned from If It Fits Your Macros (IIFYM) is that your foods do not have to suck while dieting. If you’re dieting, I promise you there are tons of fun foods options out there so you don’t have to suffer.
I was doing my Sunday shopping at Meijer and snapped some photos of some new and old favs in the grocery store. Each of these are great options to keep you from going crazy on your diet!!
If you love fruit but hate when it goes bad quickly, I give you Dole No Sugar Added fruit cups!
Chocolate lover? Try Hersey’s Lite or Sugar Free syrups. I drizzle the sugar free on ice cream and even make chocolate milk!
The best tip I can give you when it comes to your proteins: spices. You must flavor your food. Let me repeat, you. must. flavor. your. food. Mrs. Dash has TONS of salt-free options that I sprinkle on everything from my chicken to my egg whites.
These Jell-O Sugar Free cups are life savers when you’re starving but out of macros or really need something sweet. They’re 1 g carbs and I tell my clients they are your freebies (don’t need to track). Sometimes I add some fat free whipped cream.
I discovered these Yoplait Greek Whips a few weeks ago and am in love!! I was tired of everyday Greek yogurt and these revived my love for yogurt. They have the texture of mousse. My favorite is the strawberry cheesecake. My boyfriend, who usually hates Greek yogurt, is even buying them now.
I love mac and cheese, particularly Velveeta Shells and Cheese. Unfortunately, it can be a little hard to fit into a diet because it’s high calorie and not super filling. Cue the Easy Mac 2% milk cheese version! This one has half the fat and cuts those cals quite a bit. My pro tip, add a few squirts of spray butter to make it more creamy and fatty tasting.
If you’re a Greek yogurt fan, these bars from Yasso are super yummy and 100 cals. I’m also loving fruit bars for this warmer weather. Strawberry has been my favorite so far!
If you love ice cream, you must pick up Halo Top. It’s really the best low cal ice cream option out there in my opinion. If you can’t find Halo Top (it’s not widely available) get a reduced fat or reduced carb option from the freezer aisle. Just skip Arctic Zero-its everything I hate about “diet foods” since it tastes like ice cubes.
I must give praise to the frozen veggie companies props because they have been killing it with so many new options. Mashed and Rice Cauliflower are amazing options and generally flavored amazingly. I love the garlic versions. I’m also a big fan of sweet potatoes!
Pop Corn is a great filler food for me when I need a bunch of food in my tummy but with very little cals. Boom Chicka Pop and Skinny Pop both have wonderful flavors. At the holidays, Boom Chicka Pop had a sugar cookie version that got me in trouble. I could eat the entire bag in one sitting. I had to stop buying it because it was entirely too addictive.
I’m all for saving time during meal prep so any and all pre-cooked proteins you can get your hands on, do! If you’re a fish lover, the options from Gortons are time savers!
If you love tots, try the Green Giant Veggie Tots to cut some cals.
If you’re suffering from bored hunger, add some Mio flavor to a large bottle of water and drink up!
If you have no time to make your lunch, these Smart Made by Smart Ones frozen meals have the best macros I have seen. My favorite is the steak.
Another time saving protein option, Tyson Naturals grilled or lightly breaded chicken! Don’t overly complicate your meal prep if you don’t have to. There’s nothing wrong with buying pre-cooked options! In fact, I buy a rotisserie chicken pretty frequently to save time.
